Happy New Year!
Hi Dancers,
Happy New Year from all of us at 6th Position! We’re so excited to get stuck into 2025 with you and keep sharing our love of dance. Some new information on what’s happening below!
Mitchell Studios Update
Our new studios at Mitchell are chugging along nicely but unfortunately won’t be ready for 20th of January as we had hoped. Given the popularity of our Summer Series, we have extended this schedule by two more weeks to keep your dance-fix in check!
We hope to start our 2025 Schedule with our Northbourne and Mitchell Studios for the start of February. We’ll share some progress photos on our socials soon.
Summer Series Extension
A huge thank you to Maddi, Eva and Leah who have kept the keen-beans dancing over Summer. The fabulous Emily will take over the next two Monday nights for our two-week extension to offer Maddi a break before our regular schedule kicks in. Thanks, Em!
Private lessons are also still available around the scheduled classes in the Summer Series, so send us an email to book one!
Another big thank you to those customers who have provided positive feedback about our new teachers. We really do welcome and encourage feedback here at 6th Position. Whether it’s constructive or positive, if we don’t know, we can’t improve, so please keep it up!
Teacher Update
We are incredibly lucky to have even more experienced teachers joining our staff in 2025! With this, there has been a few more adjustments to the 2025 Schedule so check it out here on or the timetable page.
Rachel Cutmore
The lovely, local Canberran, Rachel Cutmore recently passed her Certificate of Ballet Teaching Studies with the Royal Academy of Dance. To celebrate she would like to teach us adults some ballet repertoire variations! This will be a great way to finish our Summer Series as well as welcome Rachel to our regular staff!
Beginners to Elementary Ballet Students

$40 or two class credits
Experienced Elementary to Advanced Ballet Students

Congratulations to Rachel on her certification, it is no mean feat to undertake this study! Rachel will be teaching:
A Ballet Foundations Course in the city for lunchtimes on Mondays
An express, open-level, Ballet Conditioning (PBT) class on Friday lunchtimes
An express, open-level, Ballet Class on Friday lunchtimes (these two will be a half credit class each or you can combine them and stay for 1.5 hours!)
A drop-in style RAD class delving into the RAD-specific techniques as well as national character movements on Saturday lunchtimes (So. Much. Fun!)
Tatiana Verza
And last, but certainly not least: The incredible Tatiana Verza is moving to Canberra from Adelaide and I am proud to say we’ve secured her! Tatiana is qualified in the Vaganova methodology from the Bolshoi Ballet Academy, advanced pointe techniques and Progressing Ballet Technique. She brings more incredible insights and continues the high standard of classical training we are proud to offer at 6th Position.
Tatiana will be teaching:
A rotation between the Elementary and Inter/Adv PBT, Ballet & Pointe groups on Tuesday nights with the lovely Astrid and I,
A rotation with the fabulous Gino and Caitlin for Beginner Ballet on Wednesday nights (luckiest Beginners in Canberra!),
A full ballet class for Adv. Beginners to Elementary students on Thursday lunchtimes,
A Vaganova-style class on Friday evenings for Elementary to Advanced students,
The Inter/Advanced ballet class on Saturday mornings,
The Beginner Ballet class, Pre-Pointe Class and a PBT-Barre hybrid class on Sunday mornings,
She also has a keen love of private tuition, helping students reach their ballet goals in a personalised setting. She will be available for private lessons ($85 per hour) on Wednesday afternoons through to early evenings as well as Sunday afternoons.
I feel so honoured to have such high-calibre teachers interested in teaching and supporting adults on their dance journeys and I know you will all feel the same!
Open Day
It wouldn’t be a Happy New Year without our biggest day of the year to look forward to! As most of you already know, Open Day is your chance to try a new style or new level for free.
More importantly though… do you have that friend, family member, partner or colleague who you know would LOVE dancing with us? Then please share the details of Open Day with them so they can give us a go! You can even come with them for moral support! Ages 16-106 welcome (teens, you get a free trial for a new style during the terms).
Ok that’s it for now folks, don’t be a stranger and feel free to email me anytime… Emily has allowed me back on the emails after my enforced rest!
Anouska.
